Not that we're excited here, really...

    Up until about the end of January of 2000 I'd never written a fanfic in my life.  I'd never wanted to write a fanfic in my life.  And then came Kensan.

    It all started in a chat room somewhere, role playing the character of Takani Megumi, and watching episode after episode of Nobuhiro Watsuki-san's anime series Rurouni Kenshin.  Not only was I hooked on the hunka hunka title character, but the whole story grabbed me, and all of the characters struck a chord or twenty-seven in me.  And then I found myself, pen in hand, late one night, writing.  This was nothing new.  What WAS new was that I was apparently writing a Kenshin fanfic.

   Mou...  More than eight years, now.  Eight tumultuous years...

    First off, I must apologize. I will make no excuses for my overlong absence; know that I have never forgotten the clinic or my work there. It's simply that other issues  have arisen, and my priorities have shifted.

    As I've said before, things have not gotten easier; time has actually gotten crueller, and I am not getting younger and more carefree. Personal and public tragedies have hindered me greatly and even curbed my creativity for a while. And yet, the urge to write, to continue the story of Megumi and the Kenshingumi, their associates, enemies, friends, and adventures remains.  Not to mention, the drive to throw out all semblance of sanity and respect for conventions in the practice.  And, I'm still writing, no matter how slowly.  I hope you're all still here, and spreading the word. I'm sure many of you have given up hope. Rejoice, those of you who have stayed. Office hours may be shorter and more sporadic, but the Doctor is In!

    Incidentally, I'll be expanding my horizons and reviving an old aspect to open Fox's Fic Farm, a forum for fics by the Fox that don't have to do with RK. That's going to be a while in the works, not because of my lack of fics, but a lack of time -- the biggest hindrance to any web development I've done.

    And now for the same old stuff, and the new stuff, and the stuff you better know about.  (Isn't it nice how some things never change)?

    Like the DISCLAIMER stuff:  First of all, it ought to go without saying that all the characters belong to Nobuhiro Watsukisan, creator of Rurouni Kenshin, with the obvious exception of the crossovers.  The Ranma 1/2 characters and concepts belong to Takahashi Rumikosan.  The Slayers characters belong to their creators, Kanzaka Hajimesan, Araizumi Ruisan, and Yoshinaka Shokosan.  The Star Trek character belongs to the Roddenberry estate, or Paramount, or whoever owns the rights these days. Please don't anyone sue me!!! (Any other characters belong to me unless otherwise noted).  So for any tortures, kinks, twists, turns, and tumults I put them through, I should probably apologize and hope (were any of them to read these) that they'd appreciate my feeble attempts, as I hope you all will.)  Though I have been and will continue to be going over most of the fics sooner or later (and I DO mean it!  I will!  Eventually...) to recheck some facts and typos and the like, there are still spoilers and hints from the very beginning in every fanfic.  What a surprise, ne?  Some of them have no connection to the actual events in the RK series; some have minimal connections.  I may have incorrectly interpreted something, or have incorrect information; those mistakes are mine and if you find any, PLEASE let me know.   I've seen the entire series and know a little bit about the manga, and am trying to read the translations thereof.  Please Email me with any questions, comments, etc.   If you spot any errors, typos, and so on, please also let me know.  BE ADVISED that many of these are not supposed to necessarily follow the story very closely.  It's called poetic license, and I've got mine.  Just got it renewed!!!

UPDATE INFO!!!

    VOICES CARRY IS COMPLETE!!!!!!  At long last, the songfic on which I'd been working and writing and reworking and rewriting and revising for so long is at least completed and now posted in all its musical glory!!!  I've changed most of it around from what I'd had posted already so take it from the top!
    There's another one-parter up now... It's a little... unusual.  Even for me. It too is a crossover.
    The Slayers/RK crossover continues to be on extended hiatus; I apologize. It's been a while since I've been able to watch either series . But I haven't forgotten!

    "What Need Not Be Said" is also still in production.  Sorry once again for the slowness of it; I want to know what happens too!!!!!!!  xo_o;
    "Leggo my Ego!" is also still in my agenda and being worked on at my exasperatedly plodding pace. I beg you to bear with me, I didn't stop writing and posting because I wanted to, I can promise you that!
    And as always, I still have plenty of new ideas swimming around in my head... PLEASE bear with me!  I can't give you any ETA's on anything especially since the woman behind the curtain (of really fabulous hair) has a lot on her proverbial plate right now...  (Who doesn't?)
    Oh, incidentally, I've finally corrected many of the spelling errors and typos in Physician, Old Wounds, Absence, and Battousai no Saya.  Haven't changed much of the text, but there are one or two minor differences: a line here, a word there, spelling, spelling everywhere....  Most notably, I did a little very minor tweaking to Physician (especially the epilogue) so that it's less clear about whom it's actually written.  This is in no small part because I still, to this day, cannot decide who makes the story work better.  Both men have their pros and cons, in this sense.

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!  It has been brought to my attention that not everyone reads through. For example, the first fanfic has an epilogue with lemon content. DO NOT READ THAT FIRST!!!! I wrote it as an epilogue because it has impact on the story but it won't make NEARLY as much sense as it would if you read it when you were supposed to, you know, AFTER the rest of the story.  :P  But seriously folks. This is important to me, and to you as a reader. The fact that it is mentioned as having lemon content is a warning, not an invitation. *sighs* So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the fics in the order of their parts. There is no sequence between fics, unless otherwise specified, but there are spoilers all over the place, so please be careful.

And now...  On to the Fics Themselves...  In the order in which they were written -- and completed!-- here they are!

Warnings and Comments

Physician: Heal Thyself

My first fic. It's about dealing with one's personal demons.
WARNING:  NO SKIPPING!  Epilogue has lemon content.

Old Wounds

Very intense and rather sad; if you're not in the mood for that, don't read this one now.

 Absence Makes the Heart Grow

Short but sweet, a kind of "filler". While the gang's away, the mind tricks will play...

 Battousai no Saya
(Sheath of the Battousai)

This goes places not everyone will like; then again, several of my fics do just that.  x^_^

 The Fox's Tale

A bit of a variation and history. On history?  You decide!  x^_^;

 Rurouni Nibunnoichi

The first crossover!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not read this if you don't like laughing at tired old jokes.
Or new ones, for that matter.

 The Mark of X

The story of the woman behind the fics...  Kindasorta.

Vacation:
A Beautiful Woman Runs Us Ragged!

How wrong can you get? And how much fun can you have in the process?

 Voices Carry

Yes, it's a songfic. And what do you plan to do about it? (Read it, I hope!)

 Shadow of the Worf

Another crossover!!!!!!!!!!!! This one is all kinds of wrong.
Don't hate me. It's funny. It was actually inspired by an Engrish eBay listing...

 What Need Not Be Said*

After Megumi's last romantic fiasco, (see Vacation!)
she's sure she's had more than enough to last for the rest of her life.. Hasn't she?

 Leggo my Ego!*

When Kensan's former shishou comes for a visit, be sure that there's more than meets the eye!

* = work in progress.

  And that's it... so far.  Of course, the works in progress are really being worked on, and the completed ones will be undergoing revision and double-checking at some point, but don't worry.  It'll happen sooner or later...  Please keep reading!  Coming for a regular checkup is very important to your health.  -- TMX.
